Do Step 1 first. Deleting the API key from MongoDB Atlas immediately blocks all API calls — regardless of what CostSave does. Step 2 (removing from CostSave) cleans up stored data.
Step 1
Delete the API key in MongoDB Atlas
Choose the option that fits your situation:
Option A — Delete the API key (permanent, recommended)
1Log in to MongoDB Atlas → top-left menu → select your Organization
2Go to Organization Settings → Access Manager → API Keys tab
3Find the API key created for CostSave → click the ⋮ menu → Delete → confirm
Option B — Remove the key from a specific project only
1Open the Project → Project Settings → Access Manager → API Keys
2Find the CostSave key → click Remove from Project — the key is revoked for this project only
MongoDB Atlas → Organization → Access Manager → API Keys
costsave-reader — Organization Read OnlyActive⋮ Delete
→ Click ⋮ → Delete → Confirm
✓
API key deleted. All MongoDB Atlas API calls from CostSave will immediately fail with 401 Unauthorized.
Step 2
Remove the account from CostSave
This permanently deletes all scan history, resource data, and the encrypted API key from our database.
1Log in to CostSave → go to your accounts list → click the MongoDB Atlas tab
2Find the Atlas organization → click ⚙ Manage → Remove Account
3Confirm — the encrypted API key and all scan results are permanently deleted
✓
All data deleted. The encrypted API key and all MongoDB Atlas scan results are permanently removed from our database.
Check Atlas → API Keys
The API key should no longer appear in Organization → Access Manager → API Keys. If you used Option B, it will still appear at the organization level but will be removed from the project.
Check Atlas Activity Feed
Go to Organization → Activity Feed and filter by the API key. After deletion, no new CostSave API calls should appear.
Does removing from CostSave also revoke Atlas access?
No. Removing from CostSave only deletes our stored copy of the API key. You must also delete the API key in Atlas (Step 1) to fully revoke access.
Which projects lose access when I delete the organization API key?
All projects in the organization — the key is scoped at the organization level and grants access to every project under it.
What role did the CostSave API key have?
Read-only only — Organization Read Only. No write, create, or delete permissions were ever requested. CostSave cannot modify clusters, databases, or any Atlas resources.
I want to delete my entire CostSave account
Log in to CostSave → Settings → Danger Zone → Delete My Account. Verify with OTP. All data is permanently erased. Complete Step 1 first to also revoke Atlas access.
